![]() Then near the door there is a little hallway with closet space on one side and a bathroom on the other. It has 2 beds and 2 nightstands in between the beds which are under the window. My cabin is not as small as I thought and somehow fits all of my 4 bags worth of junk. In the gangway (which is the doorway that opens for people to walk on and off the ship) we were patted down and then had to walk through the security gate but after we had finally made it onto the ship! There was a whole process in the union where each student had to go to a different station to straighten out paperwork and then we were able to check out our cabins. In addition we received school ids and then were allowed to walk on the ship. Our bags scanned and boarded onto a truck which delivered them to the ship and we got our passports and yellow fever cards checked. We had to wait in a long line in the port to sign in. Then we went back, packed our bags up, dragged them out the door into a cab, and headed to the ship. One was a huge mailboat that must have had a TON of mail on it. We sat on the beach for about 2 hours and watched boats come in and out of the channel. ![]() The next morning Hannah, Alex, and I woke up early to have some time on the beach before we had to board the ship. While walking along the dock we saw people looking into the water and realized they were checking out the lion fish swimming near the dock, it was amazing to see them so close! We made it to the port and begged the security guard to let us to the door just to see the ship and up close it was a lot bigger than I imagined. Senor Frogs was right on the water and really close to the port so a group of us walked to get a closer look at our ship which we could see from the restaurant. We even got our friend Alex into the dance constant on stage which I don’t think he appreciated but he was a champ and it was really funny. We stayed at Senor Frogs for most of the night and a lot of SAS kids showed up so it was really fun. They were more like little cakes of fried dough with conch, onions, and peppers but I liked them. For dinner I tried conch fritters and when I asked the waiter what they tasted like he said oversized crab cakes (he was a little off). That night we went to Senor Frogs which is a crazy place to say the least. It was a little scary but so cool to see, the water was insanely clear. While we were swimming we could see sting rays and tiny fish floating around the bottom. Hannah, this boy Alex, and I all had our rooms right next to each other so we went back to the beach and swam in the water for about and hour. We headed back to the hotel and ended up running into 10 more SAS kids who were checking in. They had little shacks set up selling food and drinks, they blasted music, and everyone was having a great time. Our hotel in Nassau was on the local side of the island, so we were staying near the local beaches which were small but fun. ![]() So my friend Hannah (from Baltimore) and I decided to explore the beach. ![]() ![]() From there we shared a cab to our hotel and soon realized that our room was not ready so we had to wait an hour until 4. We arrived in Nassau, Bahamas on Wednesday around 2:30 and I met 2 other girls while getting my bag who were apparently on my plane and one was actually from Baltimore. It has been crazy since getting into the Bahamas with something happening every minute. Things are finally getting onto a normal schedule so I have been able to write something. ![]()
